Ferret Care : Raising Ferrets
Ferret care is very important to ferrets since they are active and energetic in nature, but like us humans they also get sick. Proper and delicate care for your ferrets to avoid illness is necessary. They can even catch common cold from us. It is not easy to determine when a ferret is sick. As mentioned they are energetic, when you see them not roaming around or just laying it simply indicates that they are not in good condition.

Ferret care is needed to avoid illness. One of the common illness of ferrets is common cold and flu. It is an illness that we humans could pass through as well as we could also be contaminated by them. The signs and symptoms are coughing, sneezing and runny nose. Some of them will have a fever and experience diarrhrea.
Heat in fever, the fluids in the body will decrease because of evaporation. In diarrhea, fluids and electrolytes will be lost because of frequent disposal. In this case, you should increase fluid intake to avoid dehydration. You can also give them rehydrating fluids for children. When symptoms persist for days and they are not able to drink and eat consult your veterinarian.

Two Different Kinds of Ferret
Fact or Myth: Are ferrets domesticated or wild animals?Loading...
Domestic Ferrets CAN survive if they escape from thier home. I live in a small comunity in the foothills of the cascades on the edge of the willamette valley (Oregon). Some ferrets that escaped made a home for themselves about a quarter mile down the road in the addic crawl space of a small cabbin that noone had lived in for quite some time, and lived there for at least four years after the first time they were spotted!
ferrets are both. some are born in captivity and others are wild

ferrets are domesticated. it is widely believed they were bred from polecats to be trained to hunt rats, mice, rabbits, ect. there are no wild ferrets [ blackfooted ferrets don't count, since the domestic ferret came from europe and blackfooted are north american ] and domestic ferrets will not survive if they escape, whereas even a housecat can survive if it escapes from it's home.
